Student Wishmakers® – Kids for Wish Kids® and Wishmakers on Campus®

Kids for Wish Kids and Wishmakers on Campus are special Make-A-Wish volunteers who are students, ranging from elementary to college age. These super students raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation in their communities through a variety of projects. Whether it's a dance, coin drive or a car wash, the project is entirely student driven from start to finish with guidance and support along the way from parents, teachers, and of course, Make-A-Wish® staff.

Student Wishmakers projects can be individual projects (e.g., senior graduation or service learning requirement projects), or as a larger student activity with groups such as DECA, a class, or youth group. Make-A-Wish staff can work with you to brainstorm fundraising ideas and provide you with the necessary support to make your event a super success!

Through participation in this program, students learn about philanthropy, and develop solid leadership skills. When Student Wishmakers put their time, energy and hearts into projects, they make magic happen. Student participation in this program helps the Foundation to continue its mission of granting wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.

Sample Project Ideas

  • Organize a bake sale or car wash
  • Host a dance or silent auction
  • Organize a walk-a-thon or read-a-thon

Kids for Wish Kids

Join our Kids for Wish Kids® program where kids and teens help fulfill the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions by creating their own projects and fundraisers.

What appeals to children, young adults, their parents, school teachers and administrators who participate in the program is that the ideas for getting involved come from kids themselves.  They have complete ownership of initiatives like planning inventive fundraisers, creating gift bags, making posters and scheduling presentations to learn more about Make-A-Wish®.  They learn valuable lessons about leadership, teamwork, and the rewards of charitable giving and community service.

The main objectives of the Kids for Wish Kids program are:

  • To increase awareness among children and young adults and their teachers about the mission of the Make-A-Wish Foundation®.  We grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
  • To encourage children and young adults to become actively involved in fulfilling the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions through supporting Make-A-Wish.
  • To foster the value of community service, using this program as a hands-on learning experience for children and young adults.
  • To create school spirit.
