The Make-A-Wish Foundation of
Connecticut hosted an evening of recognition to honor all of the outstanding volunteers and event coordinators who have helped make so many special wishes come true over the past year. The event took place at Roberto’s Restaurant in
Monroe on Wednesday, March 25 at 7pm and a total of twenty-three volunteers and fifty event coordinators were in attendance.
Staff members spoke about their experiences granting wishes and planning fundraising events over the past year. Speakers included Tim Friar, the president and CEO of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of
Connecticut , as well as Wish Manager Lisa Vita, and Tara Navara, the Director of Internal Events.
Director of Program and Volunteer Services, Karleen Lombard personally recognized each of the volunteers she had worked with, many of which were involved in granting wishes. Kim Smith, the director of external events, spoke about those in attendance who had planned fundraising events for the foundation.
One of the most touching moments of the night came when the family of a child who received her wish to go on a shopping spree spoke about their experience with the Make-A-Wish Foundation of
Connecticut . Two event coordinators also spoke about how rewarding it was for them to plan an event that contributed to making a child’s wish come true. The evening ended with each volunteer and event coordinator receiving a fleece blanket with the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Connecticut logo as a special thank you.
