What to Expect on your wish experience

Once you have chosen your one true wish, just sit back, relax and everything will be taken care of for you and your family!

Here is some information about each wish type.

• I wish to go...
  
  If you choose a travel wish, we will take care of all of the planning for your special trip. Once the paperwork is signed, your doctor has approved the wish and your dates have been chosen, we will arrange the travel details. This may include flights, transportation to and from the airport, hotel accommodations, spending money and more. You will receive a personalized itinerary before your wish – tailor-made just for you!
  
  Please don’t worry if you don’t have your itinerary until a few days before your wish; sometimes it takes extra time to pull all details together since we work with other chapters for wish arrangements to ensure your experience is the absolute best it can be!
  
  
• I wish to be...
  Children search the depths of their imagination when they wish to be someone for a day – a fireman, a police officer or a model. Make-A-Wish staff and volunteers will work to ensure the wish child has an exciting, unique, and authentic experience.
  
  
• I wish to meet...
  Celebrity wishes vary and as are unique as each celebrity.  We work very closely with our National Wish office to coordinate celebrity wishes.  Once we set a date and location with the celebrity for the meet-and-greet, we will take care of all of the arrangements.

You will receive a personalized itinerary for your wish a few days before your experience. Rest assured that everything will be taken care of for you, including transportation and travel, if necessary. 

It is very important to understand that sometimes celebrity wishes can take a little while to grant based on the celebrities schedule, availability and how many children are waiting to meet that celebrity. Also, the time that you will be able to spend with the celebrity varies depending on the celebrity’s schedule.

• I wish to have...
  Once you decide on your special wish and it is determined what it will include, we handle the rest! We take of care of purchasing the necessary equipment or items to make your wish come true. We work with your family and volunteers to determine a special delivery date.

How can I refer a child?

If you would like to refer a child for a wish who lives in Connecticut, please contact Lisa Vita at 877-203-WISH or email lisa@ct.wish.org.
